WHO ARE WE?

Our farm is located in the Town of Ulysses just north of Ithaca NY.  We raise 40 acres of certified organic vegetables each year while managing a total of 126 acres of land.  These fields are scattered about a 1 mile radius from our homesite.   We always try to have at least 50% of our land in cover crop or green manures in order to build soil fertility and reduce weeds.  We are slowly planting a orchard of apples, peaches, pears, cherries, nectarines and plums, all organically grown.  

 

Stick and Stone Farm started as a small market garden in Newfield, NY in 1995 with Chaw Chang and his friends Karen Wynne and Rebecca Morgan at what is now Oechsner Farm.  We started wholesaling to local restaurants and groceries in 1998, but Karen and Rebecca had by then moved out of the area.  In 2000, Lucy Garrison joined the farm and they were married in 2005.  In 2003, we moved to our present home site location in the town of Ulysses.    In 2005 we started the Full Plate Farm Collective CSA program along with our friends at Remembrance Farm and 3 Swallows Farm (now the Youth Farm).  We are also founding members of the Healthy Food For All program, a program that helps fund CSA shares for lower income people.  

 

We now employ 10 people, some year-round and continue to sell at the Ithaca Farmers’ Market, local restaurant and groceries, the Full Plate Farm CSA and several distributors and food processors/ food hubs in the area.  Our produce can be found throughout the state and locally can be found at Greenstar Co-op, the Piggery, and numerous restaurants in the Ithaca and Fingerlakes Wine Region.  This year we are starting an Asian Vegetable CSA geared around the fall school semester.
